Info for Clients
How OXPIP Can Help
- OXPIP works with parents to help them understand their relationship with their baby and develop new ways of responding to each other
- OXPIP supports parents who are uncertain about their parenting, who are low, depressed, angry or traumatized or who are concerned about their baby’s or toddlers development. Clinicians see parents and babies in one-to-one sessions or in a group
- OXPIP offers counselling to parents who have a child under the age of two years
OXPIP’s Commitment to Clients
We will do our best to help you and your baby.
You will be offered an introductory session. This provides the opportunity for both client and counsellor to decide whether counselling should proceed. At this stage they may agree on an initial number of sessions. All sessions last 50 minutes, usually on the same day and at the same time each week. A waiting list of clients is operated
Under exceptional circumstances it is possible to arrange for clients to be visited at home
Your Commitment to OXPIP
There are many mothers and babies who need help and OXPIP’s resources are limited. At least 24 hours’ notice should be given in the event of clients not being able to attend appointments
If a number of appointments are not kept and adequate notice is not given to your therapist, your appointment time will be offered to someone on the waiting list.
Fees
OXPIP offers treatment on need, not just on the ability to pay - clients are asked to make a contribution to our costs.
OXPIP is a registered charity and relies on payment of contributions from the families it serves.
Confidentiality
All information disclosed to our Clinicians is treated as confidential.
Any information given to Clinicians’ supervisors is also treated as confidential - no details are disclosed to any third party
In exceptional circumstances, if a Clinician felt that a client was in danger to herself/himself or to others and the client was unwilling for the Clinician to inform outside agencies, OXPIP reserves the right to inform others but would inform the client before doing so, wherever possible
Training
OXPIP’s clinicians are professionally qualified as psychotherapists or counsellors and have had training and/or experience in working with parents and babies
Code of Ethics
OXPIP’s clinicians are registered with a professional organisation and are bound by its Code of Ethics and Practice
Supervision
All OXPIP clinicians receive regular supervision
